Jehovah Jireh: The Lord our Provider
One thing the Holy Spirit taught me a long time ago is the meaning of the word ALL. Whenever I see ALL in the bible, I just know that God is not playing. God will supply ALL your needs in Jesus name!
Memory Verse: Philippians 4:19 - And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Bible Reading: Genesis 22: 14 - And Abraham called the name of the place, The-Lord-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the Lord it shall be provided.”
The name Jireh speaks to a dimension of God that provides for His children. Just like an earthly father is responsible for the welfare of his children, so is God responsible for our welfare.
One thing the Holy Spirit taught me a long time ago is the meaning of the word ALL. Whenever I see ALL in the bible, I just know that God is not playing.
So when He says He will supply ALL my needs according to His riches in glory. I know for a fact that I will lack nothing. Know that for yourself too.
People who went to boarding houses can relate to this illustration. You know how you’re about to return to school and so you make a long list of all the items you need - food, toiletries, books, socks, sandals, bedding etc., and you hand the list over to your parents.
There’s usually a certain level of assurance that you’ll return to school with all the items on that list as long as they are things you really need.
From our Bible Reading in Genesis 22, we can see how the Lord proved to Abraham that He is a provider. God had requested that Isaac, Abraham’s long-awaited child, be given up as a sacrifice. This must have been a very hard assignment for Abraham but he trusted God too much to disobey such an instruction.
He set out early the next day to sacrifice his only son. Even when Isaac asked him where the animal for the sacrifice was, Abraham said “God will provide” and true to his belief, God provided a ram for the sacrifice.
There are times when you may feel stranded because the things you need are not readily available. At those times, don’t be discouraged. Jehovah Jireh, The Provider, will see to it that all your needs are met.
In the last 3 verses of Matthew 6, Jesus said we should not worry about what we will eat, drink or wear, and that our heavenly Father knows all the things we need.
It may tarry but find rest the same way Abraham found rest. God will surely see to it that everything you need is provided and you too will testify that God is a provider indeed.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for reminding me that you are an ever-present help in time of need. Teach me to trust you wholeheartedly as Abraham did. I shall find rest because I know that You will supply all my needs according to your riches in glory. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Yesterday we looked at God’s name - Elohim: The Mighty Creator. If you didn’t get a chance to read the devotional, you can still do so today.
God bless you!
Jehovah Jireh, the great provider, thank you consistently meeting my needs, thank you for always showing up for me when all hope seems lost.
